Sturgill Simpson has shared details of a new concept album.
'The Ballad Of Dood And Juanita' will arrive digitally and on CD on August 20, with a vinyl release following on December 3.
Penned and recorded in under a week, the LP serves as the prolific Grammy Award-winning artist's third full-length in 12 months and his most ambitious project yet, calling it "a simple tale of either redemption or revenge." Expanding on the creative motivation, he said:
"I just wanted to write a story — not a collection of songs that tell a story, but an actual story, front to back." Describing it, he compared it to a "rollercoaster ride through all the styles of traditional country and bluegrass and mountain music that I love, including gospel and a cappella."
It finds Simpson backed by the same musicians who accompanied him on 2020's 'Cuttin' Grass, Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions' and 'Cuttin' Grass, Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions'.

4. Shamrock
