The TikTok star and London-based vocalist from Bath follows in the footsteps of previous winners Pa Salieu, Celeste, Octavian, Sigrid, Years & Years, Sam Smith, Adele, Ellie Goulding, Michael Kiwanuka and Jessie J, among others. She said:
"I am so happy to be chosen for the bbc sound of 2022, to be put up against such amazing musicians has been an honour and i just hope that i fulfill the people’s expectations of me this year."
She fought off competition from Wet Leg and Mimi Webb, who came second and third, respectively, as well as Baby Queen, Central Cee, ENNY, Lola Young, Priya Ragu, Tems, and Yard Act.
