The Hold Steady have dropped a new track called Sixers.
The mid-tempo guitar-led jam serves as the latest preview of their ninth studio album, 'The Price Of Progress', which is due out on March 21 via the band's own Positive Jams label via Thirty Tigers. It'll appear on the record along with January's single, Sideways Skull. Frontman Craig Finn commented:
"Sixers was written in the first days of the pandemic. It’s basically a song about knowing your neighbours. Two young professionals meet up in their building late on a Friday night and spend the weekend partying together. They try to find a love connection, but it’s not quite there. It’s hard to make friends when your job is so demanding. Tad and Steve chime in with some beautiful guitar harmonies."
The Hold Steady will return to the UK for three shows in March as part of The Weekender, their annual multi-night event for UK fans. They also have a couple of US shows in the diary.
In May 2022, meanwhile, Finn released his fifth solo LP, 'A Legacy Of Rentals'.
