The Lemon Twigs have announced a new album.
The follow-up to 2020's 'Songs For The General Public' is called 'Everything Harmony' and will arrive on May 5 via Captured Tracks. It was previewed by the Long Island D'Addario brothers in January, when they shared the dreamy single Corner Of My Eye.
Now they're back with Any Time Of Day, a sunny guitar-pop ballad that unfurls around rich folky melodies. Of the track, Brian and Michael said:
"We were hired to write material and act in an interactive TV show about an imaginary '70s brother band. We wrote a bunch of KISS type songs for the soundtrack plus this one. This one wasn’t quite right for the show, so we held it back. For a month in 2019, we filmed all eight episodes. In the fallout of a high profile lawsuit taken by the company against Quibi, the show was shelved and remains on someone’s hard drive, if not completely erased to save space. The song’s about the cyclical nature of life. Everything goes on and on. Out with the old, in with the new!"
Head below to view the song's retro-themed video, directed by Ambar Navarro, who described the clip as being, "heavily inspired by '60s television live performances and focusing on the minimal set pieces, referencing The Carpenters, Tom Petty, and especially The Monkees' TV Show and the absurdist/surreal comedy of that era."
Written, recorded, produced and engineered entirely by the duo across Manhattan, Brooklyn and San Francisco's Hyde Street Studios, the new album will be supporting by UK and European tour dates, including an appearance at Amsterdam's London's Calling Festival on May 20. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on February 17. They also have a handful of US dates in the diary for March.
