CHAI have announced a self-titled new album.
The follow-up to 2021's 'Wink' will arrive on September 22 through Sub Pop. It will include the previously shared song We The Female! and the funky new track Para Para, with the video for the latter set to premiere at 2am BST tomorrow (June 15).
Explaining how Para Para was inspired by the two-step dance trend that became popular in Japan in the '90s, vocalist/keyboardist Mana said:
“There’s not a deep meaning to that song, it’s really just about the danc. As long as you can feel the two-step, any dance is possible! Let your body just move to your dancing heart ♡ When your body moves to the beat of your heart, you’ll realize that the world is smaller than you think, and all your problems are easier than they seem. ‘Cause two-step and music is the best way to communicate in this world ♡ Let it START! CHAI’s two-step dance music ☆☆”
The Japanese band will support the record with a short US tour this fall, which will kick off with an appearance at Flipside Festival in Boise, Idaho on September 23.
Following that, they've lined up a European tour for November, which will include UK stops in Southampton, Brighton, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Bristol. Tickets go on general sale at 10am this Friday (June 16).
