Ministry have announced their 16th studio album.
'Hopiumforthemasses' will arrive on March 1 via Nuclear Blast Records and feature the new live ripper, Goddamn White Trash featuring Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan.
Propelled by distorted metal riffs, the industrial powerhouse was previously debuted during their tour back in the spring. Commenting on the record's lyrics and themes, frontman Al Jourgensen said:
"Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime. I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too. If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of staying sedentary and singing about broken relationships, inner turmoil, or whatever is hurting this week, I comment on what’s going on from the perspective of a fellow passenger."
In addition to Keenan, the LP also features contributions from Jourgensen's collaborator and Lard bandmate Jello Biafra, and Gogol Bordello's Eugene Hütz.
The band, completed by John Bechdel, Monte Pittman, Cesar Soto, Roy Mayorga and Paul D'Amour, have North American shows lined up opening for Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper on the Freaks On Parade Tour in late August and throughout September,.
Ministry will also appear at Rocklahoma in Oklahoma on September 3. They released their latest album, 'Moral Hygiene', in 2021.
