The soulful dance track features Panda Bear, Kelsey Lu and John Glacier alongside a sample of J.J. Barnes' 1973 hit Just Make Believe. It's the latest to be shared from the British producer's long-awaited sophomore album, 'In Waves', due out on September 20 via Young. He said:
"Dafodil was one of the first pieces of music that I made for this album, it was actually the song that made me realise I could finally make another album. I am forever grateful to Kelsey Lu, with whom this song began as voice notes about a hazy night we both remembered. Thank you to John Glacier and Panda Bear whose voices perfectly evoke the unique feeling of summer nights in London."
Kelsey Lu added: "Dafodil. A fun ride into a cute sexy hazy night in London shared with my dear friend Jamie xx. Memories of my first London summer I’ll cherish forever that are now encapsulated for us all to be in ecstasy together. See you on the dance floor."
The DJ previously teased the follow-up to 2015's 'In Colour' with the tracks All You Children featuring The Avalanches, Life with Robyn, Treat Each Other Right, and Baddy On The Floor with Honey Dijon. Other guests set to appear on the record include his The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim.
Jamie xx is currently amid a 10-show residency called The Floor at the London club venue MOT. In September, he'll play an intimate album launch show at Brighton's Concorde 2, before two dates at London's Alexandra Palace as part of his In Waves Tour. Tickets are on sale now.
