Linkin Park recently returned with news of a new album, singer, drummer and world tour. Linkin Park tickets for their shows in the UK, Europe, Seoul and Colombia go on sale at 10am local time today.
The band’s Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Joe Hahn announced the addition to their line-up of vocalist Emily Armstrong, known for fronting Dead Sara, and drummer Colin Brittain.
They have also revealed they’ll be releasing a new studio album, ’From Zero’, on November 15, their first since 2017. That year they put out ’One More Light’ in May, but sadly two months later their vocalist Chester Bennington passed away.
As a preview of the new record, they’ve shared a video for its first single, The Emptiness Machine, which offers up the empassioned and melodic nu-metal they’re known for, with Armstrong delivering both clean and throat-shredding vocals alongside Shinoda. The latter said:
“Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created," he added. "We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
The new Linkin Park roster performed together at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last night (September 11), as part of their From Zero World Tour. However, guitarist Brad Delson recently released a statement announcing that he will not be performing at any of the upcoming shows. Read it in full below.
The trek will also head to New York’s Barclays Center on September 16, Hamburg’s Barclays Arena on September 22, The O2 in London on September 24, Seoul’s Inspire Arena on September 28 and the Coliseo Medplus in Bogota, Colombia on November 11. Tickets for the US shows went on general sale at 10am on September 7.
Since announcing the addition of singer Emily Armstrong to their line-up, the band have experienced backlash online, including from Bennington’s son Jaime, due in part to her alleged links with the Church of Scientology and alleged previous support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson, the Scientologist actor well known for his role in That ’70s Show. Although Armstrong addressed the issue with a brief statement on social media, which has since expired, the band have not officially commented.
