The Tubs have announced their second album.

Formed from the ashes of the now defunct group Joanna Gruesome, the London-based Welsh band will release 'Cotton Crown' through Trouble In Mind on March 7, following up their 2023 debut, 'Dead Meat'.

Alongside the announcement, the four-piece have shared the record's lead single, Freak Mode, a jangly, indie-pop track that was penned during the period that followed the suicide of vocalist Owen 'O' Williams' mother, folk artist and writer Charlotte Greig.

He said it's, "about dating while grieving the death of my mother. It's about making wacky tragicomic romantic assumptions and being an emotional freak, but also kind of being self-aware about that and explaining it to whoever you’re shagging."

The entire record revolves around the loss of Williams' mother, with the band delivering some of their most dark and personal songwriting to date, while expanding their sound with a range of influences, from soulful pub rock to melancholic pop. Head below to check out the LP's artwork, which features a photo of Greig nursing Williams.

The Tubs are currently touring the UK supporting Fucked Up and play a show in Birmingham tonight (October 23). They'll also play a free gig at London's Moth Club with Grazia and Expiry on December 2.

'Cotton Crown' tracklist:

1. The Thing Is
2. Freak Mode
3. Illusion
4. Narcissist
5. Chain Reaction
6. Embarrassing
7. One More Day
8. Fair Enough
9. Strange
