Shura has laid out plans for her long-awaited third album.
The British artist will release 'I Got Too Sad For My Friends' through Play It Again Sam on May 30, following up 2019's 'forevher', and the subsequent 2021 deluxe edition, which included new songs Obsession and T-shirt.
Produced by Luke Smith, who's worked with Foals, Shygirl and Depeche Mode, it boasts collaborations with Cassandra Jenkins on Richardson, Becca Mancari on Bad Kid, and Helado Negro on If You Don't Believe In Love.
Alongside news of the record, the London singer-songwriter has shared the expansive first single, Recognise, a vulnerable alt-pop track that offers swirling, ethereal synths and whisper-like vocals that reflect on the unpredictability of life. She said:
"Arthur Russell sang 'being sad is not a crime' and yet somehow when I went through a period of despair in January I felt that the best course of action was to hide myself away from the world. I think Recognise is a song about coming out the other side of that feeling. Slowly coming to the understanding that everything is ok. And that ok - is good. That I can sit quietly, read a book, sip a coffee and deeply appreciate being here and everything that has happened and has yet to happen…"
