Born to a "dirt-poor" but music-loving family, Parton first found fame as child star, and was writing, recording and releasing singles from age 13 onwards. She was noticed for her incredible soprano voice, and also began working as a songwriter as well as an artist - she later signed for RCA, and her career in music was set.

Though she's a record-breaking studio worker - she's notched up a staggering 41 career Top 10 country albums, 110 career charted singles over the past 40 years, and receiving 7 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, 5 Academy of Country Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards and is one of only five female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award - some say she's at her best live on stage.

Releasing her brand new 42nd studio album, 'Blue Smoke', in 2014 Parton did what she does best at venues across the UK tour, where she promoted her new album as well as performing the usual fan favourites.
