Neil Warnock is a former football manager and player from Sheffield.
He began his sporting career playing for Chesterfield in 1967, eventually playing for a number of other clubs and making a total of 327 league appearances over 11 years. He retired from the game in 1979 while playing for Crewe Alexandra, to focus on becoming a coach and eventually a manager. In total, he has been a manager of sixteen different clubs, and holds holds the record for the most promotions in English football (eight). He notably managed Sheffield United from 1999 until 2007, leading them to the semi-finals of the League Cup and FA Cup in 2003, which resulted in a Premier League promotion. From there, he managed Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Leeds United, Rotherham United, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough before retiring in April 2022.
