Alternative rock icons Coldplay were the best headlining act of the summer according to research – a massive boost to the band before they play three December dates later this year.
BBC6Music held a poll to find out which bands, festivals and performances came out on top during the summer period, and Coldplay were found to be the best group for headline performances, receiving a shed-load of votes for their Glastonbury set. They were hotly followed by Muse, who put an epic performance in at Reading Festival, and Ohio band The National.
Another poll, deducted by the NME, included best value for money, best outright festival and best campsite categories, all of which were dominated by the ever-popular Reading and Leeds Festivals. NME editor Krissi Murison added that although Reading and Leeds were destined to win, some lesser-known festivals managed to get secure a fair amount of votes:
“As well as Reading and Leeds, NME readers also opted for places as diverse as Isle of Wight’s Bestival and Sziget festival in Budapest.”
Coldplay’s awesome headline sets took them to the top of the polls, so you’d be crazy to miss out on one of their three UK shows this winter.
