Olly Murs To Join List Of Performers At 2012 BRIT Awards Ceremony

It has been announced that BRIT nominee Olly Murs will be performing at this year’s Awards show. Olly (who is nominated in the Best Single category for his Number One hit featuring Rizzle Kicks, ‘Heart Skips A Beat’) celebrates his second ever BRIT nomination as he joins the list of stars providing a diverse range of performances on the night; Adele, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Rihanna.
Nominations for this year’s Awards were announced last week at an exclusive event at The Savoy, London. The nominations revealed that it is set to be a great year for the young British singer-songwriters who have been dominating the airwaves over the past year, with Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Adele all receiving multiple nods.
The audience at the launch event were entertained with live performances from Ed Sheeran (who tops the list of nominations this year by appearing in four different categories including British Breakthrough Act and the prestigious MasterCard British Album of the Year) and Critics’ Choice winner, Emeli Sandé.
As word spread of who had made the shortlist, the BRITs website enjoyed over twice the amount of traffic that it saw last year, with excitement for the main event (which will be held on Tuesday 21st February at The O2 and will be exclusively broadcast live on ITV1) building by the minute.
Voting for British Single is now open and will be voted for by listeners of Capital FM and users of iTunes. The British Group category is supported by BBC Radio 2 and British Breakthrough Act with BBC Radio 1. For more BRIT information, please visit http://www.brits.co.uk.
Currently preparing for his February UK arena tour, Olly Murs has announced two outdoor Summer shows for June and July.
The 'Dance With Me Tonight' singer confirmed the new Summer shows via his Official Facebook Page earlier today, posting an update saying: “Just be confirmed that I'm doing HYLANDS PARK ESSEX on the 16th JUNE!!! Like I did last year with JLS!! But this time I'll be headlining!! BUZZZZZING!! x”
The new Summer shows will follow Olly's massive UK arena tour, which kicks-off on Wednesday 1st February at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena. The tour will see Olly promoting his latest album ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ which was released in November last year.
