Going to a music festival is one of the most unforgettable and enjoyable experiences you can have in life, and we imagine a lot of our readers will agree. But, a new survey has revealed that a lot of younger people won’t be sharing the pleasure - as they feel they’ve been priced out.
The survey, conducted by MSN via Gigwise, looked at a sample of 2,000 people, and found that 60% of 18-24 year-olds feel they can’t afford to go to a UK festival this year. This has resulted in the average age of festival-goers to raise above 30.
The results also included a look at what people can expect to pay at a festival, and concluded that the average cost was a hefty £423 - which breaks down to about £103 on a ticket, £80 for food/drink, £71 on camping stuff, £60 on transport, £49 on waterproofs, and £57 on clothes. And that doesn’t even cover all the drugs!
Only 10% of those surveyed said that their recent spike in prices wasn’t a problem - and some of those people even claimed they’d spend over £800 at a music festival.
What do you think of the survey - do the results surprise you? Are you affected by the expensive nature of festivals nowadays? Leave us a comment in the box below.
