Following Distorted Light Beam, Give Me The Future serves as the second preview of the band's upcoming fourth album, due out later in 2021, though a release date is still to be confirmed.
Cast across a light, echoey beat, ethereal synths, and a soaring string section, the track's sci-fi-inspired lyrics draw influence from the futuristic themes of Blade Runner and beyond. Frontman Dan Smith said:
"Give Me The Future is a song about plugging into endless possibilities. Literally, feels like everything is out there for the taking, all tastes catered for. The spaceship sound at the start? It’s us crash landing in the future. The reality we live in at the moment was the science fiction of not that long ago. Take a film like Minority Report. The technology in that seemed so far off, a fantasy. But it's here, we're way beyond it already. Had someone told you that 20 years ago, when the film came out... you'd have laughed. Or been terrified."
Bastille's last album was 'Doom Days', released in 2019, which was followed by the 'Goosebumps' EP in December 2020.
They'll bring their ReOrchestrated production — a pop-classical reworking of their tracks — to London's Hampton Court Palace Festival for two nights in August. Tickets are on sale now.
Bastille Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
Tue August 17 2021 - LONDON Hampton Court Palace
