Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift have released a new single.
The updated version of Sheeran's '=' track The Joker And The Queen arrives almost 10 years after the longtime friends first recorded together. The pair have previously collaborated on several songs, including End Game, Run, and Everything Has Changed.
Co-written by Sheeran and Swift with Johnny McDaid, Fred Gibson and Sam Roman, the heartfelt, piano-based ballad features Swift taking over the second verse, adding her own lyrics over acoustic guitar and soaring strings. On Instagram, Sheeran wrote:
"Me and Taylor first met and wrote + recorded our first song together in 2012, ten years ago now, I’m so, so honoured to have her on this song.
"Not only is she the best singer/songwriter in the world but she’s also a very close friend, I’m very lucky to have her in my life. For the music video we got the kids from our song Everything Has Changed, all grown up and off to college now!"
The accompanying Emil Nava-directed video sees the return of the two youngsters who featured in the video for the pop stars' 2012 collaboration Everything Has Changed.
Earlier this week, Sheeran scooped the Songwriter Of The Year gong at the 2022 Brit Awards, where he also performed The Joker And The Queen, and a heavy version of his single Bad Habits with Bring Me The Horizon.
He will support '=' with the previously announced The + - = ÷ x Tour (aka The Mathematics Tour) throughout the spring and summer. Tickets are on sale now.
Swift, meanwhile, recently became the first global ambassador for Record Store Day. The event will fall on April 23, marking its 15th annual celebration. She put out 'Red (Taylor's Version)' in November, following up her 2020's 'Folklore' and 'Evermore'.
