The Hives have announced a new album.
The follow-up to 2012's 'Lex Hives', and their 2020 'Live At Third Man Records' LP, is called 'The Death of Randy Fitzimmons' and will arrive on August 11. Introducing it, frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist said:
“There's no maturity or anything like that bullshit, because who the fuck wants mature rock’n’roll? That's always where people go wrong, I feel. ‘It’s like rock’n’roll but adult,’ nobody wants that! That's literally taking the good shit out of it. Rock’n’roll can't grow up, it is a perpetual teenager and this album feels exactly like that, which it's all down to our excitement – and you can’t fake that shit.”
As a preview, head below to check out the opening track, Bogus Operandi, which offers up the Swedish band's instantly recognisable, rousing punk-rock. It arrives with a video written and directed by Aube Perrie.
The Hives will support Arctic Monkeys on their upcoming UK and Ireland stadium tour, which kicks off on May 29 at Bristol's Ashton Gate Stadium.
In between stops of that trek, they'll play a headline London show at the Garage on June 13. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on May 12.
The band have also lined up intimate in-store performances in Bristol, London and Nottingham for May 30, June 6 and 22, respectively. Tickets go on sale from the associated record stores on May 4.
