Two Door Cinema Club Tee Up an Exciting 2010 with Tourist History

Another pupil from the school of BBC’s Sound of 2010 shortlist, Northern Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club are set to smash the new decade wide open with their lively electro-indie pop debut album Tourist History.

Drawing inspiration from energetic bands of the noughties, TDCC have whipped up a debut that is both extremely familiar and excitingly fresh. It plays like a soundtrack to good times with friends, dancing around in the park of your memories with frivolous joy. Second single I Can Talk thumps in instantly likeable dance beats, with a thoroughly memorable Young Knives like chorus.

It sets the precedent for what is a great album; one that celebrates the UK indie scene of the last five years. Opening track Cigarettes In The Theatre could be a Bloc Party and Foals jam. Guitars and vocals join in perfect harmony to create an almost ideal indie pop song. Sprinting down the same path is What You Know, with its intoxicating tune and all-encompassing lovability. Eat That Up, It’s Good For You is jam packed with gooey electro-pop, dribbling at the sides with catchy We Are Scientists indie rock. Whilst This Is The Life links arms with the Maccabees and Bombay Bicycle Club in a darker and more ethereal sound, pounding it’s meaty chords into juicy memory cells.

Trendy Parisian label Kitsune are right to throw their faith in these University dropouts, who have served up another tempting slice of 2010’s electronically thriving best. Their sound pulses through your bones and veins, breathing that wonderfully intoxicating fresh air that is brilliant new music. Third single out in late Feb Undercover Martyn has the potential to light the rocket for Two Door Cinema Club, explosively dancy enough to please crowded dance floors and overly energetic radio DJs alike. Top that with a support slot with electro indie kings Delphic, and anything’s possible for these excitable Death Cab For Cutie lovers.
