With just two weeks to go until the 2013 Brighton Great Escape gets under way, 1, 2 and 3-day tickets have now officially sold out, meaning that 16,000 revelers will dawn upon the south-coast seaside city.
Widely seen as the UK's answer to America's South By South West (SXSW), a festival renown for its ability to showcase the most talented up-and -oming artists in the industry, the Brighton Great Escape will host over 350 acts from over 30 different countries playing in more than 30 different venues. Kat Morris, Festival Director, said:
"We're really overwhelmed with the response to this year's Great Escape and thank everyone who has bought a ticket. We can't wait to get this year’s festival under way and look forward to seeing you there for what will be the most brilliant Great Escape yet."
Amalgamating a wide range of music, the festival also has a few established acts to headline the festival at the wonderful Brighton Dome.
This year fans can expect to see the likes of Bastille, Billy Bragg, Everything Everything, Klaxons and veteran disc jockey David Rodigan.
However, it is the future of music that excites and attracts the crowd at this festival, and like Alt-J, Django Django and Peace saw last year, the festival really is a platform for artists to further their career and promote their music.
This is what gives The Great Escape it's identity, that buzz on the street from someone who has just played or is about to play, the serendipity of finding new artists, all makes the urban festival unique.
In 2013, Scruffizzer, the London-born artist who is being touted as a contemporary adaptation of Dizzee Rascal, along with Chvrches, are tipped for success, although by the end of the weekend, there will undoubtedly be many more.
The festival will take place on the 16-18th May, with the only tickets left being the three-day festival tickets that include Dome entry too (which are for the headline acts) for £56.50, whilst a limited number of delegate passes are left which allow core access and entry to The Great Escape Convention.
