Noel Gallagher is the official ambassador for this year's Record Store Day.
The former Oasis guitarist follows in the footsteps of Slaves, Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kate Tempest, Kate Nash, Izzy Bizu, Rag'n'Bone Man, the Mighty Boosh, and The Big Moon, who championed the event in 2020.
This year's Record Store Day event is set to take place across June 12 and July 17. Head here for a list of the exclusive titles. Gallagher said:
"Record shops were really important when I was growing up. It’s something that’s in my DNA. I think if we can keep record shops open for as long as possible, we owe it to the young people of this country. For this year’s Record Store Day I’ll be getting involved. I’ve got something unique coming out. Hopefully the fans will like it and they'll keep the flame burning for your local record shop."
In April, the 53-year-old announced a compilation album celebrating 10 years of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Called 'Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)', the collection will arrive on June 11 and comprise songs from his solo career as well as two new cuts.
As part of his role as ambassador, a special limited edition, numbered and coloured double LP version of the record will be released on Record Store Day's first drop (June 12), complete with an exclusive art print created for record stores.
