Multi-award winning big band Bellowhead are pleased to announce a suitably big bank holiday celebration show at the Bournemouth O2 Academy on 2nd May.
This extra special date will also be the location for a 15 camera shoot for ‘Hedonism Live’ resulting in a DVD release of the same name in the autumn of 2011. This follows Bellowhead’s debut ‘Live at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire’ DVD (2007).
The band’s latest album, ‘Hedonism’, was released by Navigator in October 2010. It was recorded in Abbey Road Studios and produced by the legendary John Leckie. This highly acclaimed album has since gone
on to sell a boundary-crossing 40,000 albums and was followed by a sold-out tour of the UK in November.
During this time, Bellowhead made their second appearance on BBC TV’s ‘Later with Jools’, when Eric Clapton could be seem strumming along to their single, ‘New York Girls’ - This was soon followed by a BBC TV
'Hootenanny' appearance, also featuring Kylie Minogue, seeing the band trend on Twitter.
Winners of an unparalleled 5 x BBC Folk Awards for Best Live Act, Bellowhead have followed in chart-topping St Etienne’s footsteps by becoming Artists in Residence at London’s Southbank Centre, where they have hosted two sell-out New Year’s Eve extravaganzas, as well as making other ‘themed’ appearances.
The band undertake a short (seated) tour in April/May – tickets are already in limited supply – and to keep a diverse and ever-increasing fan base happy, will shortly be announcing a series of high profile festival appearances for the summer months.
