Deep Purple Founding Member Jon Lord Diagnosed With Cancer

Ex-Deep Purple keyboarder Jon Lord tragically revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer yesterday.

Lord posted a statement yesterday that told of the saddening news to inform fans that he would be unable to perform for a while as he fights cancer.

“I would like all my friends, followers, fans and fellow travellers to know that I am fighting cancer and will therefore be taking a break from performing while getting the treatment and cure.

“I shall of course be continuing to write music – in my world it just has to be part of the therapy – and I fully expect to be back in good shape next year.

“God bless and see you soon, Jon.”

Jon Lord was one of the founding members of the legendary Deep Purple, and helped write hundreds of Deep Purple tracks including the iconic Smoke on the Water. He has truly earned his spot in Rock n’ Roll’s hall of fame and was with the English rockers for over 26 years. He also wrote solo material and songs for television programmes like ‘Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady’ and films like ‘White Fire’, as well as being involved with multiple rock bands like Whitesnake, Paice and many more.

Stereoboard’s thoughts go out to Jon and we wish him good luck for a healthy recovery.
